Resilience

For me resilience refers to mental toughness.  Not giving up when things go wrong or take longer to achieve than you expected.

Resilience is the ability to keep going when many would have accepted defeat and given up.  Resilience is when you keep getting up every time you are knocked down.  Resilience is strength of character.

Resilience by Nikki Banas

You never know when you are minutes away from a breakthrough.  You never know when you are one project away from the promotion.  You never know when you are one hour of studying away from passing the exam.  You never know when you are one song away from landing the record deal… That is why you keep going; that is why you keep trying.  That is why when you fall down,  you stand back up.  Because the truth is too many people quit before giving themselves a real chance.  They stop because it isn’t happening fast enough or how they thought it would work out…  My beautiful friend, remember that all good things take time.  Be patient, and your time will come too.

What is a Positive Mindset?

Definition

Having a positive mindset is a philosophy of life.  People who adopt this philosophy believe that having an optimistic disposition in every situation attracts change and increases achievement.

What are the characteristics of a Positive Mindset

The parts that make up a Positive Mindset appear to be different for each individual.  For me I would say the following:

    • Focus – A negative mind is a distracted mind.  Stay thinking positively to keep your focus at its best.
    • FlexibilityEveryone has there share of failures, but it is how successful people handle there’s which is the difference.  Often people who think negatively give up when faced with obstacles or challenges.
    • Self BeliefPositive thinking breeds confidence, and confident people are often successful.  People lacking confidence are afraid to stand up for themselves, to speak up when required.  They will never stand out from the crowd.  Self belief is vital when taking risks.
    • Optimism – A willingness to make an effort and take a chance instead of assuming your efforts won’t pay off.
    • Acceptance – Acknowledging that things don’t always turn out how you want them, but learning from your mistakes.
    • Resilience – Being able to bounce back from adversity, disappointment and failure instead of giving up.
    • Gratitude – Appreciating the good things in your life.
    • Integrity – Being honourable, honest and straightforward, instead of deceitful and self serving.
